Sonnet’s last 10 years as a Turnaround/Restructure Consultant required her taking on the role as Interim CEO in each assignment to develop the strategy and execute thereon in order to deliver on the mandate of recreating sustainable, thriving businesses. She understands the CEO’s challenges in change environments and what causes businesses to succeed or fail and how to solve it. Agility, good leadership, balancing processes and innovation and a happy work environment are essential for firms to be able to prosper into unknown futures created by 4IR.
This period was preceded by 10 years in investment banking both locally and offshore, which equipped her to scale up any business with global aspirations or currently operating globally. She headed up different areas such as Project Finance, Energy etc and understands the intricacies of the corporate environment such as its strengths and weaknesses.
During these 20 years Sonnet worked in or with different industries from Agri to Industrials to Energy and the whole gambit in between. She was also a board member of a number of different boards including NHFC, KZN Growth Fund, etc. She was on different committees including Investment, Risk, Audit and HRER.
Prior to this, Sonnet who had originally qualified as a Quantity Surveyor, worked for 20 years mainly in the Property Development industry in Property Development, Project Management, professional QS as director or owner. While her propensity is to think strategically and globally, this period taught her the importance of detail.
In February 2020, Sonnet moved into consulting, harnessing all this knowledge, skills and experience to come alongside the executive to build businesses and people.
